I’m Kara Davis, the artist behind Hiking.Girl.Artist.

My work starts on the trail—photographing the places that later become acrylic paintings, hand-painted jewelry, and limited edition prints. Every piece is rooted in real miles and real moments.

I hike alongside my husband—my rock, my best friend, and the one who makes sure we always find the next trail worth exploring. His work has us traveling full time, which means my inspiration is constantly changing and my “studio” moves with me.

Virginia is still home base, but the art now comes from wherever the miles take us.

When your in Hawaii and the Volcano is due to erupt you book a fight and pack a day bag. Did a few miles in the park this morning with husband after having breakfast with my best friend who lives here, we then headed down to black sand beach. On the way back it finally started erupting and we had a great view from the Road just outside of the park. You can see all the tephar falling down. The outlook was evacuated and it started down pouring rain so we are definitely glad we were in the perfect view point at the perfect timing! #hawaiivolcanoes #nationalpark #hikinggirl #hawaii #volcano

Fresh Coat of paint for the fridge doors. had replaced the fridge about 7 years ago, when I first bought it, but it was red. I have to say l the paint has held up really well but there were a few scratches and I never put a top clear coat on it , so now was the perfect time. Things are almost never as scary—or as hard—as we make them in our heads.

I remember being terrified to touch the plumbing in my RV… convinced I was one wrong move away from flooding the whole place.

Now I’ve redone these pipes three times just to make things work better 😅

Same with wallpaper—intimidating at first, but once you get the feel for it, it just clicks.

You don’t learn by waiting… you learn by doing. And it really does get easier every time.”

Getting my RV ready to live in again. I can’t tell you how excited l am, this will be our VA base while we travel and work out west. It’s small but I love it. So much love and many renovation have gone into it in the last 10 years. One thing I’ve wanted to do was add UV blocking tint and room darkening shades.
The bedroom curtain disintegrated in the wash so I’ll be sewing new ones as well but that’s a project for another day!
